Reconstruction, development and cleaning-up of the area at the administrative and tourist center of the national park, 2005 - 2009
Events, facts, documents and evidences: The administrative and tourist center of the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is situated in the southern part of the forest tract approximately one kilometer from the village of Kamenyuki. An asphalted road is going from the regional city of Brest to come here. The following basic objects are at the park's administrative and tourist center - the administration and the Museum of Nature, hotels, a restaurant and zoo enclosures with wild animals.
This page presents only some most remarkable and in the main positive episodes related to the reconstruction, development and cleaning-up of the area at the administrative and tourist center. Other activities within this area which give more negative effect than the positive one will be shown and considered on the separate pages, with explanations of the harm from them.
An asphalted road goes from the central entrance to the administrative and tourist center. The road forms two branches near a lost soldiers' monument running to the right and to the left. The right branch goes to the forest and the left one leads to zoo enclosures with wild animals and then also goes to the forest. In 2006 this road was partially under repair. In 2009, in the framework of the action plan of preparations for the 600th anniversary of nature protection in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, one more repair of the section of this road within the area of the administrative and tourist center was done.

Asphalted pedestrian paths surrounded along with box-trees and other shrubbery species on each side led to the buildings in the administrative and tourist center. In 2008 and 2009 they have been repaired - the asphalt cover have been replaced with the paving tiles, almost all shrubbery have been cut down, bush-branch fences have been constructed and flower beds have been made here and there.
Photos below show the foot-paths as seen in front of the area of a former Museum of Nature – a today's restaurant.

In 2002, in the administrative and tourist center, works on removing of the old fence and constriction of the new one near the museum and hotel complex were started. Let's notice that the old, decorated, fence represented a uniform architectural ensemble with the museum and hotels which had all been built in 1960, and apart from preservation of biological diversity, the national park aims to preserve the cultural heritage as well (read more in detail about it on the page "Tourist complex and the destruction of ancient traditions of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, 2001 - 2003".)
The photos below illustrate the destruction of the decorated fence and the construction of a new board fence on a stony base and with stony poles. In the opinion of experts the esthetic superiority of this new fence in relation to the removed old one can be doubted.

At the same time another fence nearby the building of the administrative office was constructed as well. This so-called "stone wall" never existed in this place before.

1.5 years later, the yellowish boards of the fence have turned dark and they were coloured in light blue.

In 2009 wooden boards were removed and, instead of them, a metal fence with bison figures in the core installed on a stony base was set up.

Great efforts for earthworks were put to reconstruct and develop the area of the administrative and tourist center – leveling of the surface, adding ground along roads and pedestrian paths.

Information boards which show a map of Belovezhskaya Pushcha, schemes and brief descriptions of tourist routes, and the ecological problem connected to expansion of the tree species of red oak alien for this terrain have been set up in the administrative and tourist center close to the entrance gate. It has to be mentioned as the rather positive fact.
